Hello everone!

Hello everone! I’ve a question about operating systems. I’ll replace my notebook soon. Do you know if there is a significant performance difference between different operating systems? I mean does it really matter if I choose windows, mac or linux? Thanks in advance.

  1. Whatever you get, you can always dual-boot it (so get what you like!). We develop in linux and that’s what a majority of users use, so it is the most reliable. OS X is the trickiest sometimes, but you can still partition the hdd and install linux, or us a VM (there is a performance hit in VMs). I’m not sure about computational efficiency, but the difference is probably not worth worrying about on the scale of a laptop.

  2. R Townson Thank you! Maybe irrelevant but I need a quick support on making simple 3D plans on dosxyznrc. Do you know how can I find (or is it even possible) to use same beamnrc phsp file on dosxyznrc more than once from different gantry angles?
