Hi all

Hi all,

Someone can sure help me. I’m trying to include my egs++ geometry input files to another to be able to view the whole measurement geometry from one file and to keep the separate input files as clear as possible. I have debugged the phantom and chamber files separately and they work. If I include both files into the main.egsinp I’m able to see the whole geometry in egs_view. For a curiosity I would also like to ask if there is a possibility to write some kind of style files which would define the default colors for different materials.

Hi there

Hi there,

recently I installed EGSnrc on Linux Mint and it’s working well. šŸ™‚ Having tested the pulse height distribution (PHD) feature for tutor7pp and read the documentation https://nrc-cnrc.github.io/EGSnrc/doc/pirs898/tutor7pp_8cpp-example.html

I’d be very grateful if you could please answer a question concerning the PHD scoring of tutor7pp:

Let’s say a particle enters region R and there, it makes three non-negligible energy depositions (edep1, edep2 and edep3). Have I understood the code correctly, that each of the three energy depositions are treated individually and added to relevant energy bins in the PHD of region R i.e. adding height in up to three different energy bins (i.e. if edep1, edep2 and edep3 vary sufficiently and enough energy bins were selected for the PHD region R in the input file)?

Hi everyone.

Hi everyone. I am new to the EGSnrc and have been struggling with this problem for a few days now. I am trying to simulate cube phantom with simple lung cavity on certain depth, and I keep getting strange results (image provided below). Dose distribution in the cavity is certainly not what I would expect. I would expect underdosage in the cavity area. I guess I am doing something wrong. I am using 521icru as pegs file. Also, I am using Co60 phase space file from IAEA page but I get the similar result with a simple parallel beam. I tried air521icru as cavity material too. The resut looks even worse. All of the dose is concentrated in the cavity then. Do you have any clues?

Hi everyone

Hi everyone,

I’m newbie with EGS and I’m in trouble with egs_brachy. When I trying to use egs_rz library (or egs_glib) and I want to see my geometry in egs_view i see the following error in terminal:

EGS_Library::load(): failed to load library /home/adam/EGSnrc_with_egs_brachy/HEN_HOUSE/egs++/dso/linux-static/libegs_rz.so

error was: /home/adam/EGSnrc_with_egs_brachy/HEN_HOUSE/egs++/dso/linux-static/libegs_rz.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

createSingleGeometry: Failed to load library ‘egs_rz’ from /home/adam/EGSnrc_with_egs_brachy/HEN_HOUSE/egs++/dso/linux-static

EGS_BaseGeometry::createGeometry: errors during geometry definition

I have no problem while using libraries like EGS_XYZ, for example or ZCylinders. I tried open example geom files in egs_brachy/lib with egs_rz library and it was failed.

I have simple, cylindrical phantom in CT files, but I cannot open it in egs_view (the same problem with egs_glib) so i thought i re-build it using egs_rz library… And so far it looks like I was wrong.

I’m desperated and please, let somebody help me.

Hi everyone

Hi everyone,

I am currently an MCNP user, and i’m learning EGSnrc now for some of my research. Wondering if EGSnrc does well with dose calculation to small objects of micrometer or nanoscale sizes? Has anyone tried this before?

Thanks.

Hello everyone.

Hello everyone. I am new to EGSnrc and need some advice. Does anybody have an input file for a HPGe detector with the decay engine in EGSnrc? I would appreciate immensely if you could especially share the lines in implementing the source, detector and scoring parts. I need the detector response, not the dose. I checked the help files but found no clear instructions or examples. Thanks in advance for your help.
